There are many different eye conditions that require specific kinds of contact lenses, so finding the right kind isn’t always easy. There are lenses designed for certain eye conditions, such as keratoconus, irregular astigmatism, Sjogren’s syndrome, and more.

Rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses and scleral lenses are hard contact lenses that provide correction for very poor vision and conditions that cause blurry vision such as astigmatism. Patients who are unsuccessful with soft contact lenses lenses may be better candidates for these specialty hard lenses as they provide comfortable and clear vision. Scleral contact lenses may even aid in severe dry eye disease.
